The E-series controller is equipped with a thermal trip to monitor the motor temperature, which ensures a cut out if the heat builds up to an unacceptable level.

Lewmar control boxes should be used when the windlass electronics are installed in a wet area of the boat. In dry locations, a standard contactor can be used instead
